LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Joseph Bellino on Monday applauded the announcement that more than $200,000 in Going PRO Talent Fund grants have been awarded to five businesses across Monroe and Hillsdale counties to help train local workers.
“When we invest our workforce, we invest in our future,” said Bellino, R-Monroe. “Going Pro funding supports our economy by helping businesses train local workers for high-skill, high-wage jobs in manufacturing and health care and it helps workers gain valuable skills to earn higher wages. I have long supported these wise investments to support Michigan businesses and help workers advance their skills. Investing in our local people now leads directly to future statewide economic prosperity.”
The Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity makes Going PRO Talent Fund awards available to employers through the state’s workforce system, commonly known as Michigan Works! Agencies (MWAs). Participating employers play an integral role in defining their key training needs, then work with their local MWAs and other partners to develop strategic training plans.
In Monroe County, TWB Company LLC was awarded $72,390 to train 42 workers, $46,690 was granted to Trailer Connection LLC to train 25 employees and Advanced Heat Treat Corp received $12,460 to train seven workers. Each of the businesses is located in the city of Monroe.
In Hillsdale County, Ross Design and Engineering in Cement City was awarded $45,930 to train 57 employees and Precision Gage in the city of Hillsdale received $25,000 to train 14 workers.
