Nesbitt slams Dem leadership focused on past failures, urges cooperation to fix tip credit, save jobs for the future

LANSING, Mich. — Senate Republican Leader Aric Nesbitt, R-Porter Township, on Monday released the following statement in response to Senate Democrats suing Michigan House leadership:

“Instead of focusing on the future prosperity of struggling Michiganders, Senate Democrats are focused on the past failures of their own party’s fumbled leadership. The people of Michigan don’t need petty political gamesmanship; they want real leadership and real results.

“The new House Republican majority has worked hard to put forward a realistic plan to fix our roads without increasing taxes and passed bipartisan legislation to avert economic disaster and save thousands of Michigan jobs and restaurants. What has the Senate Democrat majority accomplished so far in 2025? They’ve sued Republicans and yelled a lot about the president of the United States.

“Senate Republicans remain ready and eager to get to work, save jobs, fix the roads, and serve the people of Michigan who sent us to Lansing to help protect and improve their livelihoods. I implore Senate Democrats to stop living in the past and join us in the present.”
