LANSING, Mich. — Senate Republican Leader Aric Nesbitt, R-Porter Township, on Tuesday released the following statement welcoming President Donald J. Trump to Michigan as he marks the first 100 days of his second administration:
“It’s great to welcome President Trump back to Michigan as our country thanks him for the many accomplishments of his first 100 days in office. We are grateful for his strong leadership and look forward to the successes of America’s next golden age.
“In a very short period of time, President Trump has restored law and order at America’s borders and made good on his promise to deport the violent criminals and gang members who took advantage of Biden’s disastrous policies. Communities across Michigan are safer today because of President Trump.
“He is also fighting for fairness in global trade and working to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States — the kinds of good-paying jobs that left Michigan in record numbers under the Whitmer and Biden administrations. Michiganders are ready and willing to get to work.
“We are thankful for his leadership in rescuing the vital Line 5 tunnel project from radical green new scam activists like our governor and attorney general. By fast-tracking Line 5, President Trump is making good on his promise to cut energy costs and restore American energy independence.
“President Trump has also taken significant steps toward cutting back wasteful government spending. His efforts, along with anticipated tax relief, will help hardworking Michigan families keep more of what they earn because they can spend their own money better than the government.
“In just 100 short days since his return to the White House, it has become clear that President Trump’s leadership is good for America and for Michigan — but the best news is that better days are still ahead.”
