LANSING, Mich. — Senate Republican Leader Aric Nesbitt, R-Porter Township, on Thursday issued the following statement after voting against Democrat legislation to establish a Prescription Drug Affordability Board in Michigan:
“Whether it be groceries, gas or medication, the people of Michigan continue to ask their elected leaders to help make everyday life more affordable. The thing they are not asking for is some Soviet-style pricing scheme.
“When far-left legislatures have passed similar bills in other states, we’ve seen a large increase in the number of press releases from politicians and zero savings to consumers — the actual people and families who need relief. At the end of the day, these government-mandated schemes never deliver on the promises they make.
“Rising prescription drug prices are a serious problem that demands a serious solution. Senate Republicans aren’t interested in spreading talking points and false hope — we are ready to get to work for the people of Michigan and fight to make everyday necessities more affordable.”
