LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Michele Hoitenga, R-Manton, issued the following statement Tuesday after visiting Gaylord with Michigan State Police and local officials to assess the damage caused by the weekend ice storm that wreaked havoc on Northern Michigan:
“It was heartbreaking to see firsthand the damage that thousands of families and small businesses are now facing across Northern Michigan.
“As recovery efforts continue, I will remain in touch with local officials and those affected by the storm to ensure we are providing the resources and support needed to aid in recovery efforts in the weeks and months ahead.
“Once again, I want to express the deepest gratitude to the first responders who have been working to help those affected and the strong efforts of utility crews working to restore power to our communities as quickly as possible.”
Hoitenga’s office recently sent a list of state emergency resources to residents of the 36th Senate District. Those who still need help connecting to support services may contact the senator’s office at [email protected] or 517-373-7946.
