Bellino applauds Blissfield lead service line replacement grant

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Joseph Bellino on Monday applauded the awarding of a state grant to the village of Blissfield to help replace lead pipes in its community.

“This grant will help the community of Blissfield provide their residents with clean and safe drinking water for years to come,” said Bellino, R-Monroe. “Proactive infrastructure improvements like this are the kind of long-term funding priorities that I have strongly supported, and I will continue to fight for similar improvements as we work to finalize a new state budget.”

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy awarded the village of Blissfield with a $483,000 Community Technical, Managerial, and Financial Support for Lead Line Replacement grant.

The funds are to support work related to Blissfield’s lead service line replacement program, including field verification to be conducted for approximately 665 service lines at properties where lead is suspected but not confirmed or where service line material is unknown but likely contains lead.

Under Public Act 166 of 2022, the Legislature appropriated $48 million for a grant program for community technical, managerial, and financial support for lead line replacement.
